Since embarking on a solo career in 1966, Chick has been at the forefront of jazz, both as a renowned pianist forging new ground with his acoustic jazz bands and as an innovative electric keyboardist with Return to Forever and the Elektric Band. Recent Projects
Chick continues to make a significant impact on the scene, as evidenced by 2007’s Latin GRAMMY®-winning The Enchantment (duets with banjo virtuoso Béla Fleck), 2008’s GRAMMY®-winning The New Crystal Silence (duets with longstanding collaborator Gary Burton), 2009’s Returns (documenting Return to Forever’s 2008 reunion tour) and 2009’s GRAMMY®-winning Five Peace Band Live (with John McLaughlin, Christian McBride, Kenny Garrett and Vinnie Colaiuta).
In 2012, Corea took home two GRAMMY® Awards, including Best Jazz Instrumental Solo, for Forever, the 2-CD set recorded on his acoustic trio tour with Return to Forever bandmates Stanley Clarke and Lenny White. The two honors were, remarkably, Corea’s 17th and 18th GRAMMY® Awards.
Corea’s recent schedule continues his unbroken string of productivity, with more world tours and four new albums: the critically-acclaimed Further Explorations (with Eddie Gomez and Paul Motian); The Continents: Concerto for Jazz Quintet and Chamber Orchestra, an ambitious new classical release and a crowning achievement in his work as a master composer; the release of Return to Forever’s latest live album, The Mothership Returns; and the 2-time GRAMMY®-winning Hot House, a transcendent new set of standards in his acclaimed duet with Gary Burton.

TIM GARLAND
Londoner Tim Garland has had an international career for many years now, touring with the likes of Joe Locke/Geoffrey Keezer (as “Storms/Nocturnes"), Bill Bruford, the globe-trotting trio Lighthouse, (for which he won a BBC Award in 2006) and has continued playing and recording with Chick Corea since joining Origin in 2000.
He won a GRAMMY® for his part (orchestrations) in the creation of Chick’s The New Crystal Silence CD and is well known as a composer, having fulfilled commissions for the LSO, CBSO, Northern Sinfonia, BBC Concert Orchestra and others, including NYJO, that featured his new big band commission in a televised Albert Hall Prom in the summer of 2012.
He first entered the jazz scene playing alongside Ronnie Scott in a “two tenor” quintet, before quickly establishing himself as a leader, drawing on influences from around the world including classical and flamenco. His bass clarinet playing is a unique and dazzling addition to his saxophone soloing.
His latest CD from the group Lighthouse on ACT has gained its place in the top CDs of 2012 in Jazzwise and Mojo magazines.
CHARLES ALTURA
Charles Altura is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. After graduating from Stanford University, he quickly made a name for himself as an important new voice on guitar. He has performed and/or recorded with Chick Corea, Tigran Hamasyan, Stanley Clarke (including the 2011 GRAMMY® Award-winning album The Stanley Clarke Band), Ambrose Akinmusire, Aaron Parks, Dayna Stephens, Ravi Coltrane, and Arturo Sandoval, among others. Altura also performs original music with his own band and will release a debut record in 2013.
HADRIEN FERAUD
Hadrien Feraud was born into a family of musicians. His first guitar lessons were from his father when he was eight years old. Feraud was originally more interested in playing the drums. Only after listening to the CD The Birthday Concert by Jaco Pastorius, a present from his dad at the age of 12, did he apply himself to studying the electric bass on his own. Deeply fascinated and motivated by Jaco’s entire musical output, he became one of the youngest bass virtuosos to come out of France in 10 years.
He expanded his musical universe through occasional collaborations and listening/studying the tunes of many other bassists and musicians, such as Christian McBride, Victor Bailey, Anthony Jackson, Skúli Sverrisson, Gary Willis, Matthew Garrison, Richard Bona and Linley Marthe. The complete musical work of Jaco Pastorius, including his work with Weather Report, has been and is still his main source of inspiration.
Christian Pegand (John McLaughlin’s and Bireli Lagrene’s concert manager) invited Feraud in 2001 to play at the concert Bass Contre Bass. Surrounded by Lagrene and Sylvain Luc on guitars, he had a noticeable impact. Lagrene recognised Feraud's enormous talent.
In 2002, via Lagrene, Feraud became acquainted with Jim and Jon Grancamp and Feraud on bass formed a power-trio called “Le Cartel.” They performed on various stages in the French capital, around France and abroad.
Eager to meet more people, he participated in several contests, such as Euro Bass Day 2003 in Verona where he earned first place. He also emerged as the winner in the French contest Haut les Basses in 2004.
Towards the end of 2004, Feraud started composing works for his first solo project, while playing at several clubs and jams in the Paris scene. In 2005, John McLaughlin invited Feraud to contribute to two tracks (“For Jaco” and “Senor CS”) on his album Industrial Zen.
This was a pivotal encounter for Hadrien. In 2006 he finished recording his first solo album, Hadrien Feraud, with a huge number of prestigious guests: John McLaughlin, Bireli Lagrene, Flavio Boltro, Jean-Marie Ecay, Jean-Pierre Como, Marc Berthoumieux, Mokhtar Samba, Jim Grancamp, Dominique di Piazza, Thierry Eliez and Linley Marthe.
In 2007 he took part in Chick Corea’s Five Trios project, with Corea and Richie Barshay on the Brooklyn, Paris to Clearwater. After that he went on tour in North America and Canada. A European tour followed in 2008, as a member of John McLaughlin and the 4th dimension (with Gary Husband on keys and Mark Mondesir on drums). In 2008, Feraud played on, arranged and produced Bireli Lagrene’s album Electric Side, and followed that by recording with Jean-Luc Ponty and the Paco Sery Band.
Feraud lives in Los Angeles and is working on his new project.
In September 2009, Feraud and Ken Smith announced the creation of the Hadrien Feraud Signature Burner, to be made in Japan by Hajime Hirose and SleekElite, under the direction of Ken Smith.
MARCUS GILMORE
GRAMMY®-nominated artist Marcus Gilmore was inspired by the music of his grandfather, legendary drummer Roy Haynes, who gave him his first instrument at the age of 10. Already one of New York's most in-demand drummers at age 25, he has recorded and performed extensively internationally with some of today's best known contemporary artists, including Chick Corea, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Vijay Iyer, Natalie Cole, Nicholas Payton, Cassandra Wilson, Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Ravi Coltrane, Terence Blanchard, , Roy Hargrove and Raul Midon, among others. He has also been repeatedly featured in world-renowned publications such as The New York Times, DownBeat and Modern Drummer.
GAYLE MORAN COREA
Vocalist, keyboardist and songwriter Gayle Moran Corea possesses one of the most distinctive and lyrical voices in all of jazz, a talent she has put to stunning use on varied and ambitious musical projects since 1974. She is the only musician to have performed and recorded with two titans of jazz-rock, Return to Forever and the Mahavishnu Orchestra. First joining Mahavishnu for classic albums including Apocalypse (produced by the legendary George Martin with the Beatles, who stated that Gayle’s vocal track is one of his favorite of all his recordings), she later joined Chick Corea and RTF for tours and recordings, including the Grammy-winning album The Leprechaun and Musicmagic. Her songwriting has also reached beyond the jazz world, as her composition “Do You Ever” was sampled by Dr. Dre for his song “Afterlife.” She continues to tour and perform worldwide, with her husband and musical partner of 40 years, Chick Corea.
PERNELL SATURNINO
Pernell Saturnino, a Grammy Award winning percussionist, is known for his flexibility and knowledge of various rhythms around the world. He is a perfectionist who always tries to play every rhythm as close as possible to the origin. It does not matter if the rhythm is from Brazil, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Peru or Curaçao, to mention a few. He has displayed his talent on all the recordings and concerts, appearing on at least three CDs yearly, for over a decade. He has been recording and performing with the best in the Jazz scene around the world; Chick Corea, Wynton Marsalis, Paquito D'Rivera, Andy Narell, Danilo Pérez, David Sánchez and Miguel Zenon to mention a few.
Mr. Saturnino was born in Curaçao, (Former Netherlands Antilles). He started to play percussion when he was nine. When Mr. Saturnino was eighteen years old, he joined one of the best folkloric groups of Curaçao back then; "Nos Antias" (Our Antilles).
One year later, in 1982, he decided to study music seriously at F.I.M. (Foundation Institution of Music), and graduated in 1986. In 1988, Mr. Saturnino moved to Boston, USA, to study at Berklee College of Music. At Berklee, he won two awards: Most Outstanding Percussionist in 1992 and Latin Percussion Award, 1994.
While studying at Berklee, Mr. Saturnino got the opportunity to perform with numerous invited artist like; Joe Zawinul, Hermeto Pascoal, Chucho Valdez, Cachao and Micheal Gibbs. In the Boston region, as the first call percussionist, Mr. Saturnino performed with Gilberto Gil, Danilo Pérez, Oscar Stagnaro and Rebecca Paris.
After graduating at Berklee College of Music in 1995, Mr. Saturnino started a musical relationship with Paquito D'Rivera and has been performing and recording with him until up to now.
In 1996, he was invited by Wynton Marsalis to perform in the Atlanta Olympics with an All Star Big Band. Also, to perform with Lincoln Center Orchestra featuring The Alvin Alley Jazz Ballet and recorded Sweet Release and Ghost Story.
In 1997, Mr. Saturnino also joined David Sánchez quintet and recorded: Obsession, Melaza, Travesia, Coral and Cultural Survival. In 2003, Chick Corea called Mr. Saturnino to join him with The Elektric Band and recorded as an invited guest on the CD To the Stars.
During the years, he had also performed and recorded with numerous artist like; Bebo Valdéz, Edward Simon, Andy Narell, Dave Samuels, Antonio Hart, Micheal Mossman, Danilo Pérez, Donny McCaslin, Dave Liebman, Dan Morreti, Miguel Zenon, The New York Voices, Diego Urcola and Oscar Feltman. Sixteen of the CD's that Mr. Saturnino recorded on, was Grammy Award nominated, of which, five won the Grammy Award.
Recently, Mr. Saturnino is still keeping busy performing and recording with numerous artist like; Dee Dee Bridgewater, Makoto Ozone and as the first call percussionist with The WDR Big band in Germany. Mr. Saturnino is also traveling around the world teaching and giving lots of workshops.
Mr. Saturnino also returned back to his native island Curaçao and opened the first percussion school named Percussion Creed School of Percussion. While being a full time teacher/clinician at Percussion Creed, he still travels and participate with international artists all around the world.
