TAJ MAHAL AND KEB’ MO’S FIRST EVER
JOINT ALBUM EARNS GRAMMY AWARD

Historic TajMo Release Wins
Best Contemporary Blues Album

“The culmination of a longtime desire for both musicians,
each a standard-bearer in the genre-blending world of
roots, folk, blues, soul and Americana.” - Billboard

Taj Mahal and Keb’ Mo’s first ever album as a duo, TajMo, won a GRAMMY in the category of Best Contemporary Blues Album at the 60th Annual GRAMMY Awards ceremony held tonight at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

TajMo, released on May 5, 2017 via Concord Records, marks a once-in-a-lifetime convergence of the talents of two unique American artists who’ve already built significant individual legacies that have consistently expanded and extended American blues traditions into astonishing new territory. The collaboration brings out the best in both artists, who merge their distinctive voices, personalities and guitar styles to create vibrant, immediate music that’s firmly rooted in tradition yet ruled by a restless, spirited sense of adventure.

“We’re honored to work with such extraordinary artists as Taj Mahal and Keb’ Mo’ and are delighted they have received this well-deserved recognition,” stated Concord Records President John Burk. “Taj and Keb’ are not just blues giants, they are musical giants who’ve consistently stretched traditional boundaries to the delight of music fans the world over. Their genre-bending approach to the great blues tradition, coupled with their longtime admiration for each other, made this collaboration inevitable. It was a long time coming, but TajMo was worth the wait.”

Taj Mahal has been recording and performing his unmistakable blend of blues and world music for over 50 years, winning multiple GRAMMYS and collaborating with the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton and more along the way. Keb’ Mo’, who has often cited Taj as one of his musical heroes, is a 4-time GRAMMY Winner who has collaborated with everyone from Raitt to Jackson Browne and Buddy Guy.
